Novosphingobium sp. P6W is a abscisic acid (ABA)-degrading bacterium isolated from the plant rhizosphere. Abscisic acid (ABA) plays an important role in plant growth, development and adaptation. Exudation of ABA from plants and fungi to the rhizosphere potentially provides an organic substrate for microorganisms. The capability of microorganisms to degrade plant hormones is considered as a strategy to interact with their host-plants.
