Whole Genome sequencing of Bacillus ACT Group Temperature Bacteriophages. Bacteriophage sp.

To better understand the flow and exchange of genetic information between bacteriophages and plasmids from the Bacillus ACT group and to determine the scope of genetic diversity among these phages, we induced lysogenic prophages from cultures of B. cereus and B. thuringiensis strains with mitomycin C. The lysates were spotted onto lawns of each strain used in the experiment to find suitable hosts for phage propagation. A total of 5 phages were isolated, 1 from B. cereus and 4 from B. thuringiensis were determined and compared to existing phages and plasmids.
