Prince Edward Island (PEI) is located in the southeastern part of Canada, North America, in the southern Gulf of St. Lawrence. It is 12.67 km away from the North American mainland across the Northumberland Strait to the southwest, and 51.52 km away from Cape Breton Island to the east. The island is named after Prince Edward, the fourth son of King George III, who held the title Duke of Kent and Strathearn. Its geographic coordinates range from 45°56′54"N to 47°03′32"N, and 64°24′50"W to 61°58′15"W. The island stretches from northwest to southeast. Administratively, Prince Edward Island falls under the jurisdiction of Canada’s Prince Edward Island Province, and Charlottetown, the capital of the province, is located in the central-southern part of the island. The total area of Prince Edward Island calculated via Albers projection is 5676.45 km², and the coastline length of the island calculated via Lambert projection is 2282.51 km. The major cities on the island are Charlottetown and Summerside, with airports situated near each of these two cities respectively. This dataset is compiled based on the 2015 global multi-scale sea-land (island) shoreline dataset derived from Google Earth remote sensing images, combined with relevant Canadian cartographic materials. The dataset is stored in .kmz and .shp formats, consisting of 26 data files, with an uncompressed size of 7.32 MB (compressed into 3 files with a total size of 5.05 MB).
