Microbiome assembly in Emiliania huxleyi cultures

In this study axenic Emiliania huxleyi cultures were inoculated with bacterial communities collected from surface and deep chlorophyll maximum depth in two sites located inside and outside an E. huxleyi bloom in the Celtic Sea. In order to investigate the short-to-long term changes in the microbiomes composition, samples were collected over about a year. DNA amplifications were carried out using universal prokaryotic (515F-Y and 926R – Parada et al., 2016) primers. Amplicons were sequenced using an Illumina Miseq technology.
