Whole transcriptome sequencing analysis of NOD1-activated human sebocytes

We found that human sebocytes expressed nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain protein-1 (NOD1), a member of the NOD-like receptors (NLRs). To investigate the role of NOD1, we treated human sebocytes with the NOD1 ligand L-alanyl-gamma-D-glutamyl-meso-diaminopimelic acid (Tri-DAP) and performed RNA-Seq analysis. It was revealed that Tri-DAP treatment induces the expression of several genes related to innate immunity and activates NF-kappa B and MAPK signaling pathways. These results suggest that NOD1 is involved in immune function in human sebocytes.
