资源简介:
Minutes of proceedings, taken by the Judge Advocate, are similar in form to minutes of the Court of Criminal Judicature, and normally show: date of court martial, names of President and members of the Court, name of defendant, charges(s) (normally contemptuous and disrespectful behaviour towards the commanding officer, mutiny or sedition, or not endeavouring to suppress the same, striking or drawing weapons against a superior officer or disobeying orders), evidence submitted, cross-examination of witnesses and questions asked by the Court, verdict, sentence and, where applicable, recommendations of the Court. In the event of the Governor expressing dissatisfaction with the verdict reached, the Court met again to consider the Governor's objections. If the sentence was confirmed the proceedings were transmitted for "H.M's most gracious decision". In addition, the bundle contains warrants of appointment of the Deputy Judge Advocate as prosecutor, warrants to convene general courts-martial, prisoners' defences and miscellaneous correspondence. (5/1155; photocopy COD260A & B). 1 box (part).Note:This description is extracted from Concise Guide to the State Archives of New South Wales, 3rd Edition 2000.
