On 01/05/2026, a forest fire broke out near Friesenhagen at the border between Rhineland-Palatinate and North Rhine-Westphalia Länder. The blaze expanded to roughly 3 ha by evening. Around 350 firefighters were deployed, supported by the Technisches Hilfswerk (THW), police, and additional emergency services, supported by a police helicopter, were deployed to contain the flames. Copernicus EMS Rapid Mapping is requested to provide wildfire extent emergency mapping and damage assessment.
