2024 Managed Care Features by Enrollment Population The Managed Care Features by Enrollment Population table (Table 7 in the Enrollment Report) lists the total number of managed care programs in the country by type (comprehensive managed care, PCCM, dental, etc.) and lists the number of managed care programs by type that mandatorily or voluntarily enroll each population type which includes duals, children with special health care needs, and American Indians/Alaska Natives (AI/AN) population. 1. In some cases, the sum of mandatory and voluntary enrollment populations for any given program type is greater than the total number of programs of that type. That is because a state may treat individuals within a specific group differently. For example, a state can mandate enrollment for aged adults, while allowing blind and disabled adults to enroll voluntarily. 2. Certain federal statutory authorities do not allow enrollment of individuals who are AI/AN or children receiving Foster Care and Adoption Assistance (FC/AA).
