Pathogenesis of Klebsiella Liver Abscess Syndrome Study (P-KLASS). P-KLASS

Hypermucoviscous Klebsiella pneumoniae is an emerging cause of community acquired liver abscess in Asian populations worldwide, affecting predominantly diabetic individuals with a normal biliary system. In Singapore, Klebsiella Liver Abscess (KLA) has become the most common cause of liver abscess. The purpose of the study was to identify pathogen factors predisposing to development of Klebsiella liver abscess.
