Transcriptome study of Sideroxydans sp. CL21 grown on lactate

Our goal was to compare the gene expression of lactate-grown Sideroxydans sp. CL21 over time to identify genes differentially expressed between mid- and late-log. An Fe oxidation assay showed cells did not oxidize Fe at mid-log (Day 6), but did oxidize Fe at late-log (Day 14). This provided an opportunity to look for genes with expression patterns that corresponded to Fe oxidation at late-log and therefor may be genetic markers of Fe oxidation activity.
