Treatment of sham and ovariectomized mice with a probiotic mix

Studies have demonstrated that a probiotic mixture of Lacticaseibacillus paracasei DSM13434, Lactiplantibacillus plantarum DSM 15312 and DSM 15313 (L. Mix) prevents bone loss in ovariectomized (ovx) female mice. The purpose of the present study was to investigate the underlying mechanism for the stimulatory effect of L. Mix on bone mineral density and lean mass in mice. Ten-week-old female mice were subjected to either sham or ovx surgery and treated with L. Mix or vehicle in the drinking water for 12 weeks. Cecal content from the following four groups were metagenome sequenced to determine the effect of L. Mix on the gut microbiome: Sham Veh (VS), Ovx Veh (VO), Sham L. Mix (PS), Ovx L. Mix (PO).
