When the State Starts Counting. Sexual Violence Recorded Through Ecuador's Schools, 2014–2025

This record contains the analytic dataset, code and results supporting the article "When the State Starts Counting. Sexual Violence Recorded Through Ecuador's Schools, 2014–2025". The study analyses sexual violence recorded through Ecuador's education system in the Violence Registration System (REDEVI) of the Ministry of Education, linked to national enrolment records from the Master File of Educational Institutions (AMIE), for the period 2014–2025. The package includes the annual series of recorded cases by alleged perpetrator group, recorded victims, enrolment and rates; AMIE enrolment aggregated by school year, grade, sex and school regime; rates by educational level; and the series of cases by year of entry into the system and year of report. It also contains the Python code for the aggregation of enrolment records, the statistical analyses (segmented quasi-Poisson regression with sensitivity analyses) and the figures, together with all estimates reported in the article and Figures 1 to 6. The primary sources are publicly available on the open data portal of Ecuador's Ministry of Education (accessed on 24 September 2026) and are not redistributed here. Instructions for reproducing the analyses are provided in the README file.
