Finding Aid, Warrior River Photograph 1922

The Veterans’ Curation Project utilizes the standard archival practice of unique naming of collections. Therefore, this collection is referred to as "Warrior River Photograph 1922.” This name is consistent throughout the finding aid, the file folders, and the box labels. The extent of this collection is a half of a linear inch.

The Augusta Georgia Veterans’ Curation Project (VCP) received the photographs from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Headquarters in St. Louis, Missouri during the initial training of new staff on December 9, 2010.

January 24, 2011 VCP Lab technician Dewayne Cameron began the processing efforts of the Warrior River Photograph 1922. White cotton gloves and Absorene® were used to clean the historical photograph. PEC-12 cleaning solution could not be used due to age and type of photograph. Absorene® was used to remove all dirt and other contaminants on the front and back of photographs. The photograph is 8 ¼” x 6 5/8” placed on an 11 ¾” x 9 ¾” cardboard backing. The initial condition of the photograph was noted as in poor. The corners and edges of the photograph were frayed, torn, and the cardboard backing was warped from improper storage. No other methods of restoration or mending were conducted on the photograph.

This photograph was digitally scanned and uploaded into a digital imaging system. It was scanned at 600 dpi. A digital disc will be returned with collection, allowing the photograph to be reprinted and displayed at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District. The photograph was placed in a specially created storage box lined with acid-free tissue paper and placed around photographs. An accession folder was created and placed inside.
