CSI or Common Safety Indicators that allow annual monitoring of the general evolution of railway safety and facilitate the evaluation of the achievement of common safety targets. They are based on European standards and the indicators include significant accidents. A significant accident is any accident involving at least one moving railway vehicle with the following consequences: a fatality or a serious injury, or serious damage (minimum €150 000) to rolling stock, tracks, other installations or the environment, or significant traffic disruption (minimum 6 hours in main track).
