资源简介:
This data set consists of data from ~120 CTD profiles collected over the
southern Weddell Sea during the ROPEX-98 cruise on HMS Endurance, and data
from current meters and (T,S) sensors on 4 moorings across the shelf break and
upper slope, just west of the Filchner Depression. The hydrographic data
are archived by the British Antarctic Survey (Cambridge, UK; contact Keith
Nicholls), and data from moorings are archived by the Alfred-Wegener
Institute (Bremerhaven, Germany; contact G. Rohardt).
The CTD data were obtained in February/March 1998 over the Ronne Depression
and adjacent shelf regions in the southwestern Weddell Sea, an area that is
usually inaccessible due to multi-year ice. Additional profiles were obtained
in support of the current meter moorings.
The 4 current meter moorings were deployed along a line across the shelf
break west of the Filchner Depression, to monitor dense water outflow of
Ice Shelf Water. The sensors are in the lower water column, from ~9 m to
~400 m above the seabed. Current meters recorded hourly data from
deployment in February 1998 to recovery by R.V. Polarstern in March 1999.
