Bisphenol A Hazards in Human Health and Environment

Plastic has been globally widespread in a way that, nowadays, life without it seems impossible to reach. However, conventional plastic also brings harms, such as the release of the BPA compound, which, once it’s absorbed by the organism, acts as an endocrine disruptor. In human health, it can induce several disturbs like gynecomastia, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, infertility, polycystic ovary syndrome, diabetes, obesity, early puberty and neoplasms. In wild animals, it actsas a teratogenic agent and endocrine disruptor, leading to malformations. Due to the analyzed problematic, we believe that it’s necessary to revise our current system of plastic utilization and that’s also necessary to research and develop biodegradable plastics as an alternative because of its importance to the environment and the promotion to an improvement in human health.
