In 2021 we sampled seawater at 208 locations across a temperate marine region roughly 100km2 in scale, focussed on nearshore habitats of kelp, seagrass, and rocky reef, and nearby deep-water sites. At each site, we collected three replicate 1L seawater samples using a different Niskin drop for each bottle replicate. Samples were then filtered (0.22uM) and used for DNA metabarcoding to target fish (MiFish-U) and marine invertebrate (COI) communities.
