Corynebacterium ulcerans is as an emerging zoonotic agent of diphtheria. This case report describes the first zoonotic transmission of diphtheria from domestic animals caused by C. ulcerans in Spain, confirmed by cgMLST. This study alongside an increasing number of recent publications highlights public health threat posed by diphtheria re-emergence.
