Dynamics of Energy Use: Interactions Among Well-being, Innovation, and Ethnic Diversity

This thesis examines how economic growth, innovation, and community diversity influence energy use, renewable adoption, and human well-being. It shows that the relationship between growth and energy intensity has changed over time. In recent decades, advances in cleaner technologies have improved well-being without the same increase in energy use. Research and development can reduce energy use through innovation but may also increase demand during periods of strong growth. In Australia, ethnic diversity affects adoption patterns across different renewable energy technologies. The findings offer pathways for creating fairer and more sustainable energy transitions that also support inclusivity and human well-being.
