Data, code and results for "Smaller first-week runoff response to snowfall than to rainfall near the rain-snow threshold"

Data, code and results for a pre-registered comparison of snow-dominated and rain-dominated precipitation events in 582 snow-influenced catchments of the contiguous United States (water years 2004–2024, October–June). The deposit supports the manuscript "Smaller first-week runoff response to snowfall than to rainfall near the rain-snow threshold" (Asghar, Ahmed and Shah, submitted to Communications Earth & Environment). Version 1.1 (2026-10-26) adds the revision after two pre-submission reviews: amendment A14 (exploratory gauge-distance, rain-on-snow and added-attribute analyses), the descriptive diagnostics of spec 04d (pair distances, attrition and balance), the redesigned Figures 1–5 and S1, the revised manuscript sources and the extended claims register. No pre-registered result changed. Contents: (1) code/ — the analysis code at a fixed commit, the specifications (each committed before its code), the dated plan amendments, the claims register (every number quoted in the paper with the output file and selector that reproduce it) and the manuscript build sources; (2) data/ — derived event tables, matched paired-catchment (Design B) and within-catchment (Design A) pairs, negative-control pairs, the event outcomes file that was sealed before contrasts were computed, and inputs to the sensitivity analyses; (3) results/ — every result table and report, and Figures 1–5 and S1. Raw inputs are not redistributed and are openly available from their providers: CAMELSH, NLDAS-2, GAGES-II, SNODAS, SNOTEL (USDA NRCS), USGS NWIS and the Jennings et al.
