These are press copies of letters sent by the Under Secretary of the Department of Public Instruction. The series contains general correspondence arising from the administration of public schools and the other institutions under the control of the Department. The letters deal with eg. applications for positions as teachers and pupil teachers, classification of teachers, promotion, salaries, School Boards, fees, appointment, dismissal, and resignation of teachers, examinations, the admission of children into the Orphan Schools, and the apprenticeship of children in the Reform Schools.
