Ketogenic diet enhances ovarian cancer in vivo

The impact of unrestricted ketogenic diet on epithelial ovarian cancer was tested in a syngenetic mouse model. Tumor growth, gene expression, and metabolite concentrations were evaluated. We identified up-regulation of fatty acid metabolism and enrichment of fatty acid and glutamine metabolites in ketogenic diet treated mice compared to high fat/low carbohydrate and low fat/high carbohydrate diets.
