Hepatitis B virus (HBV) exhibits high replication and mutation rates, leading to a heterogeneous viral population in an infected individual, termed viral quasispecies. Studying the quasispecies dynamics and evolution of HBV during viral reactivation and hepatitis flares may provide mechanistic insights into the control of HBV replication by the host antiviral immunity.
