Areca nut fruit for fresh fruit chewing commonly found in green or dark green hues. In the current study, the pericarp exhibited a notable color transformation , shifting from green to a tender yellow after the bagging process.This study is the first to explore the changes of areca nut pericarp color and carotenoids by using the bagging technique, combining phenotypic measurements with transcriptional metabolism results in an integrated manner. These findings not only advance our knowledge of color transformations in areca nut pericarp but also set a pivotal basis for future research in this area.
