Microglia innatly develop within cerebral organoids

Here we report that human organoid-grown microglia have transcriptional identity similar to that of human ex vivo adult primary microglia. By performing RNAseq on total coding RNA we show that crucial genes necessary for microglia development and identity are expressed at similar levels between the 2 groups. Comparison of organoid-grown microglia at 2 different time points with ex vivo adult microglia. 3 samples for each group were sequenced each from different donors, without replicates. After sequencing samples were compared with iPSC (n=4 different donors, no replicates) and fibroblast(n=3 different donors, no replicates) datasets containing the same donors used for organoid differentiation.
