VPRS 17288 Address Index to Building Permits

Volumes containing an index by street address to applications for various building permits including BA (Building applications), H (hoarding / fences), V (verandahs), L (Signage), P (petrol) etc. The index provides the registered permit application number that can be used to access a variety of other records that may include registers, files, plans and copies of applications.The exact function of this index and where it fitted into the overall recordkeeping system was not known at the time this series was registered. It is possible that the index was originally a low level but heavily used record because the first two volumes in consignment 1 (c 1922 to 1960) include many entries in pencil that are smudged and roughly written.This series provides references to records in other various series including VPRS 11200 and VPRS 11201.
