Rhodotorula pacifica INDKK is an oleaginous red yeast that can accumulate lipids to > 60 % of its biomass and is capable of using C5 and C6 sugars present in waste hydrolysates containing optimal carbon and nitrogen concentrations. It also produces carotenoids, when cultivated under nitrogen-deficient conditions.
