Hepatospora is the most closely related genus to the Enterocytozoon clade and it may possess a glycolytic pathway. Consequently, comparative genomic analysis between the Enterocytozoon clade and the Hepatospora genus would be invaluable in investigating the loss of glycolysis during the evolutionary history of the Enterocytozoon clade. In this regard, my work will use comparative genomic analyses of Hepatospora eriocheir, Enterocytozoon bieneusi, and Enterospora canceri to investigate: • Whether loss of glycolytic pathway is specific to the human infecting E. bieneusi.
