As a component of plant architecture, thickness of pod canopy (TPC) plays an important role in yield, especially under high-density planting conditions. However, the mechanisms underlying the regulation of TPC are still largely not understood. RNA and miRNA profiling of two groups of oilseed rape lines with significantly different TPC at the bolting with tiny flower bud stage revealed differential expression of numerous genes involved in nitrogen-related pathways.
