WiSER-NL Source Dataset

This dataset provides gridded wind and terrain data for the Netherlands and is intended for use in combination with WiSER-NL (Wind Statistics and Effective Roughness for the Netherlands). The primary purpose of the dataset is to support wind climate assessments in accordance with NEN 8100:2027, using the WiSER-NL software and the methodology described in NPR 6097:2027. The dataset contains filtered hourly wind speed and wind direction data at 60 m above ground level derived from the Dutch Offshore Wind Atlas (DOWA), together with gridded land-use and aerodynamic roughness-length data covering the Netherlands. These datasets provide a consistent basis for determining site-specific wind climate characteristics and terrain exposure parameters. The dataset is intended for applications in wind engineering, atmospheric boundary-layer research, and environmental modelling. In particular, it enables the derivation of wind climate parameters required for assessments according to NEN 8100:2027. The wind data are provided in NetCDF format, while the land-use and roughness datasets are provided in GeoTIFF and Parquet formats. The dataset is accompanied by the open-source WiSER-NL software, which supports data processing, analysis, visualisation, and wind climate assessment in accordance with NEN 8100:2027 and NPR 6097:2027.
