ABSTRACT Background :- Surgical instruments are Commonly used in the Operation Theatre during different types of Surgeries. Each instrument is designed for a specific purpose. For example, Scissors are used for cutting, Sponge holding forceps are used For holding, retractors are used For pulling tissues a side, kidney Trays are used for keeping Instruments and other materials, And needle holders are used for Holding the needle during Suturing. It is important for OT students to have proper Knowledge about surgical Instruments. They should know The names of the instruments, Their uses and how to handle Them properly during surgery. They should also know the way the Instruments are cleaned, packed, labelled, sterilized and stored following use. Used surgical Instruments may contain blood, Body fluids and microorganisms. If the instruments are not properly and sterilized , they can cause infection. That is why it is essential to clean and sterilize instruments. This helps in keeping patients safe. Once the instruments are cleaned and sterilized, they can be reused for other surgeries. Therefore, OT students need to have knowledge about both the theory and practical use of surgical instruments. Materials and Methods :- A Descriptive Research Design was used in the study . I did this Study to check what OT students Know about surgical instruments And how to use them. Total 80 students were there. From these, 30 students were selected by convenience sampling method. The study checked the students' understanding , Use , Handling of surgical instruments during surgery. It also included cleaning, packaging, labelling, sterilization and storage of the instruments. The selected students were Given handouts related to Surgical instruments. The Handouts contained different Levels of information, such as High, moderate and low levels of Information. Result :- Among the 30 students, 11 Students (36.7%) had good Knowledge and practice about surgical Instruments , 15 students (50%) Had moderate knowledge and practice, while 4 students (13.3%) had poor Knowledge and practice about surgical instruments. Conclusion :- The study found that students with good and moderate knowledge had a better understanding of the use and handling of surgical instruments. They also had knowledge about Cleaning, sterilization, labelling And packaging of the instruments. Students who had Poor knowledge need more Improvement in their knowledge And practical skills. More Practical training can help OT Students understand the proper Handling and care of surgical Instruments. Students must give more focus on cleaning, storing, labelling, packing and sterilization of instruments. This ensures that instruments remain safe for use and reduces the chances of infection.
