BRONZELID database

BRONZELID is an open lead isotope database dedicated to Chalcolithic, Bronze Age and Early Iron Age metal artefacts from Europe and the Near East. Version 1.1 contains 9,345 lead isotope analyses performed on copper-based, lead-bearing copper and lead-silver artefacts dating from the fifth to the early first millennium BCE. The database combines records inherited from OXALID with analyses compiled from published archaeometallurgical literature and includes standardised archaeological metadata, geographic coordinates, chronological information and calculated geological parameters. BRONZELID was developed to facilitate large-scale provenance studies, spatial analyses and quantitative investigations of prehistoric metal circulation. It is conceived as an evolving and versioned research resource and will be expanded as new lead isotope studies become available.
