This data package contains hydrological, ecological, and biogeochemical data from two adjacent wetlands, one impounded and one unimpounded, in Gulf Shores, Alabama, from April 2021 to June 2023. Water pressure and depth were continuously recorded by sensors in groundwater wells. Plant communities were surveyed by an unmanned aerial vehicle in August 2022. Juncus species were surveyed for canopy height and live biomass semi-seasonally. Surface water and porewater samples were collected semi-seasonally and analyzed for salinity, pH, redox potential, the anions sulfate and chloride (SO42-, Cl-), dissolved CH4, and dissolved Fe. Potential denitrification and dissimilatory nitrate reduction to ammonium rates were determined for surface soils semi-seasonally. Methods and findings are described in the associated manuscript.
