Evaluating a Novel Virtual Reality Paradigm Against a Standardised Laboratory-Based Paradigm (Data, Code, and Materials).

This repository contains the data, analysis code, and materials associated with a within-subject study comparing psychophysiological stress responses across two paradigms: the Montreal Imaging Stress Task (MIST) and a virtual reality (VR) experience developed in collaboration with Ninja Theory Ltd. Participants completed both stressors in a counterbalanced order, with physiological and subjective responses recorded across multiple timepoints. A total of 83 participants provided self-report data using visual analogue scales, and physiological data (heart rate and respiration) are available for a subset of participants (n = 62). The repository includes processed datasets, analysis scripts used to generate all reported results, and experimental materials (excluding the VR stimuli). The virtual reality stimuli are not currently publicly available as they form part of an ongoing development project but are intended for release at a later date. Note: This record supersedes a previous version of this dataset with added code and materials.
