This dataset contains model configuration files and sample output data from WRF-VPRM (Weather Research and Forecasting model coupled with Vegetation Photosynthesis and Respiration Model) simulations conducted over complex alpine topography.
Contents:
WRF-VPRM Model State: Complete model configuration and input files used for the simulations, including:
Modified WRF source code with VPRM coupling implementation
VPRM parameter files (optimized using FLUXNET observations)
WRF namelist configurations for nested domains (54km, 27km, 9km, 3km)
Boundary condition files and preprocessing setup
Land cover data (CORINE) and VPRM input files generated via pyVPRM and vprm_shapeshifter
Sample Model Output: One day of WRF-VPRM output data demonstrating the model results (full simulation output is ~5TB)
Extracted Time Series Data: Site-level and domain-averaged time series extracted from the complete simulation period, enabling reproduction of most figures presented in the associated publication
Model Setup:
The simulations use a coupled WRF-VPRM framework to simulate CO₂ fluxes over the Alps. Key components include:
Boundary conditions from ERA5 reanalysis data
CO₂ initial and boundary conditions from CAMS (Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service)
VPRM parameters optimized using differential evolution against FLUXNET2015 site observations
MODIS satellite data for vegetation indices (EVI, LSWI)
