Expression data from actinic lentigines in Japanese volunteers

Actinic lentigines (AL) are very common hyperpigmented lesions that develop on chronically sun-exposed skin and represent a visible sign of skin ageing. In this study, a homogeneous group of advanced AL lesions was selected using epiluminescence imaging and pigmented pattern scoring. Gene expression profiling was performed on AL compared with adjacent non lesional (NL) skin. Twelve Japanese women aged 54-71 years, phototype III-IV were included in the study. Pairs of 3-mm biopsies (AL lesion and adjacent NL skin) were obtained on the back of hands from each volunteer.
