Occurrence dataset of medicinal plants in the Caatinga tropical dry forest

This dataset includes georeferenced occurrence data of the 10 medicinal plants most explored by human populations in the Caatinga tropical dry forest, Northeast Brazil, for the time period 1970-2023. The occurrence data were obtained from the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF), International Legume Database & Information Service (ILDIS) databases, complementary observations and also from articles, masters dissertation and thesis which are not available from the GBIF platform. For analysis purposes, the occurrence registers were merged into different datasets based on species ecological strategies. Original data were filtered and clipped to the boundaries of the Caatinga dry forest biome. Since the occurrence data were used for ecological niche modelling purposes, the data were thinned using 1km as the minimal distance among occurrences.
