Transcriptomics sequencing of tree peony petals

The development of lateral organs in plants is acknowledged as a significant biological challenge, with the relatively uncomplicated structure of petals serving as a valuable model for exploring this issue. This investigation focused on the tree peony (Paeonia Sect. Moutan), notable for its large and vibrantly colored flowers. Morphological assessments revealed that the development of tree peony petals is governed by both cellular proliferation and expansion, with a significant transition between these processes occurring when the petals attain approximately 10% of their final size. This research elucidates the dynamic nature of tree peony petal development through transcriptomics to provide a theoretical framework for germplasm innovation and the investigation of petal development in tree peony.
