16S rRNA amplicon sequencing of effluents upon chlorination and after discharge to seawater

Saline primarily treated and freshwater secondarily treated effluents collected from two municipal sewage treatment works were tested with three chlorine dosages (zero, low and high) and then incubated in the seawater microcosms for 3 days. The samples before chlorination, after chlorination, upon dilution with seawater, and at 24, 48 and 72 hr of seawater incubation were collected. Each sample was divided into PMA-treated and no PMA-treated to examine the viable and total populations.
