The Kenyan Girls Health Study enrolled a prospective cohort of low-risk, sexually inexperienced adolescent girls and young women aged 16-21 in Kenya. Participants were followed quarterly with behavioural questionnaires and collection of vaginal samples for microbiome and STI assessment. The purpose of this study was to identify factors promoting vaginal health or increasing risk of sexually transmitted infection in young African women.
