Danish Gallup Omnibus Data 1991, Omnibus no. 15

Danish Gallup Omnibus Data, 1991 comprises 16 omnibus surveys carried out by the Danish Gallup Institute in 1991. # #Each survey contains a number of demographic variables common to all the surveys of that year, as well as a number of questions dealing with topical events. # #The questions common to all 1991 omnibuses are: #The respondent's sex, age and marital status; size of the household, number of adults (persons aged 15 or more) and children, and age of the children; the respondent's position in the household; the respondent's education, occupational status, public or private employment and income; gross household income; the housewife's occupational status; housing conditions and ownership of the dwelling as well as geographical location and degree of urbanization; which party the respondent voted for at the last general election; which party the respondent would vote for at a general election on the day after the interview; the most important political problems to be solved (pollution, unemployment, balance of payments, social issues, taxation, housing problems, health service sector, security policy, European Single Market, refugees) (this question was not asked in omnibus no. 16); newspaper reading habits; cinema visits; TV 2 and commercials on TV 2; TV habits and choice of channel; use of local radio; and whether the household is able to take TV 2 and/or Scansat/TV3. # #The following special questions were asked in all the omnibuses except nos. 04, 10 and 16: vote at a hypothetical referendum on Danish membership of the EC; vote at a hypothetical referendum on Danish withdrawal from the EC; information about the political union and possible consequences for Denmark of a political union; and attitude to the economic and political EC union. (These questions are included in the year file). # #The other special questions in this omnibus deal with the following issues: # #Attitude to a reduction of the number of political refugees; the Tamil case and the role of Erik Ninn-Hansen; participation in and attitude to citizens' meetings; interest in local politics, in Danish domestic politics, in EC politics, and in other foreign political matters; credibility of the politicians; attitude to tax evasion; collective versus individual bargaining; responsibility of the municipalities as regards providing enough day-care institutions; public authorities versus the citizens; whether the respondent thinks that the politicians always make the right decision for the country; efficiency in the public sector; trust in various institutions (e.g. the Danish Parliament, the news media, the political parties, the banks, the local councils); expectations of 1992 as regards price development, unemployment, labour market unrest and strikes, Denmark's economic situation and the family's standard of living; whether the respondent has ever written a reader's letter to a newspaper; business ethics; unemployment and job-hunting; attitude to Denmark's membership of NATO; importance of this membership; attitude to increased European military co-operation within NATO; assessment of the performance of the Government; and intelligence and moral standard of the politicians compared with the population as a whole
