Digital Archive from a Geophysical Survey at Wykham Park Farm, Banbury, Oxfordshire 2022

This collection comprises geophysics data and georeferenced raster images from an archaeological geophysical survey on c35ha of land at Wykham Park Farm, to the south of Banbury, Oxfordshire.
The survey was undertaken by MOLA Northampton between 16th and 21st September 2022, and comprised a detailed magnetometer survey. The aim of the survey was to identify whether the site contained any archaeological remains that could be disturbed by a proposed development scheme.
The survey identified a possible conjoined pair of prehistoric ring ditches, and also two small, ditched enclosures of probable Iron Age or Roman date. One of the enclosures was associated with a dense cluster of pits and other occupation features, and both were connected to an expansive network of linear ditches that apparently defined part of a contemporary field system. Medieval to early post-medieval ridge and furrow cultivation was also identified across much of the site, except in the west where it had been removed by a large (circa 3ha) post-medieval quarry pit.
