Enteropathogenic Escherichia coli (ExPEC), when present outside the intestinal tract, poses a significant zoonotic threat, leading to severe infections and potential cross-transmission among various hosts. The escalating issue of antimicrobial resistance challenges the treatment of clinical bacterial infections, necessitating the development of innovative strategies. Crafting new methodologies to address bacterial infections is critically important. Host-directed therapy (HDT), utilizing host action antimicrobial compounds (HAC), has emerged as a valuable strategy to address bacterial challenges by focusing on host-pathogen interactions and bacterial survival tactics within host cells. In this investigation, we performed cell-based screening to identify compounds capable of inhibiting the survival and proliferation of ExPEC within host cells.
