Effect of Cucurbitacin on intestinal exosomes in DSS mice

DSS-induced colitisThe rats received 3.0% (w/v) DSS (molecular weight 36-50 kDa; MP Biomedicals, Shanghai, China) dissolved in the drinking water for 7 days to induce ulcerative colitis. Body weight was recorded during the experiments.Cucurbitacin treatmentRats were allocated to one of four treatment groups (n=6/group), including control group (CON), model group (DSS-treated rats), cucurbitacin-treated group (CUC), and both DSS- and cucurbitacin-treated group (CUD). The rats were orally treated with cucurbitacin (Aladdin, Shanghai, China) at the concentration of 50 mg/kg body weight each day during the 14 day-long experiment and the rats were treated with DSS for the last 7 days. At the end of the experiment, all rats were anesthetized and sacrificed for sample collection.
