Contributor(s): Gold, Warren Maxwell, 1934- American College of Physicians. Academy of Health Sciences (U.S.). Health Sciences Media Division. Dr. Warren M. Gold, Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of California School of Medicine, speaks about asthma from the perspective of the clinician and about recent advances in medical knowledge of the pathophysiology of asthma. Dr. Gold primarily focuses on the whole organism, whether an experimental animal or a human being, to study the mechanisms of an asthmatic attack and develop specific treatments for different patients. Many slides accompany the lecture, showing diagrams of tissue, slides of actual tissue, and graphs of experimental results. Unfortunately, due to what appears to be a malfunction in the recording equipment, the majority of the lecture is marred by poor audio quality.
