The Department of Energy (DOE) Joint Genome Institute (JGI) sequenced the genome of Pichia stipitis (now called Scheffersomyces stipitis) strain CBS 6054 using whole genome shotgun (WGS) sequencing. The genome was finished at the Stanford Human Genome Center. Version 2.0 of the JGI Scheffersomyces stipitis genome assembly consists of nine scaffolds; seven of the scaffolds correspond to chromosomes 2 to 8, and two unlinked scaffolds represent chromosome 1, the largest chromosome. The finished genome was annotated with gene models using the JGI annotation pipeline.
