Chagos Archipelago Coral Project

This project focuses on reef biodiversity and connectivity in the Chagos Archipelago, taking an interdisciplinary approach to investigating reef biodiversity, connectivity and productivity with the main goal of contributing to our understanding of the conservation value of Chagos Archipelago's reefs. We do so by investigating how coral populations are connected within the Chagos Archipelago through their larvae dispersal and how this influences their recovery from major disturbances. Using population genomic techniques, we are investigating this question to help explain recovery patterns and to potentially identify networks of coral connectivity which may reveal areas of conservation interest.
