Shape Memory Alloys (SMA), because of its properties, provide a large area of application in the construction industry but due to its high cost, its practical application is very limited. Iron (Fe) SMA and Nickel-Titanium (Ni-Ti) SMA are among the most widely used. Ni-Ti SMA has been proved to be having very good recovery stress compared to Fe-SMA. However, due to its high initial cost, the Fe based SMA has gained the interest of the researchers. In this study, Finite Element Analysis is carried out using ABAQUS software to determine the effect of inactivated and activated pre-strained Fe - SMA (in varying percentages of 2%, 4%, 6% and 8%) at different recovery temperatures (1300C, 1600C and 1900C) on Reinforced Concrete (RC) Beam-Column Joint (BCJ). The Concrete Damage Plasticity (CDP) model is used to simulate the properties of concrete in RCC structures. The BCJ are analysed for a monotonic loading at the tip of the beam. The performance of the BCJ models is evaluated in terms of load vs displacement, damage energy dissipation and cracking load. The results of analysis on the Beam-Column joint proved to increase the performance in all aspects considered for activated pre-strained Fe - SMA equipped models.
