Characterization of high-metastatic colon carcinoma subline

This project has aimed to understand molecular mechanisms of metastasis. The establishment of cancer cell lines, which have different metastatic abilities compared with the parental cell, is considered as an effective approach to investigate unique mechanisms of metastasis. In the project, we attempted to establish high-metastatic cell lines by using an in vivo selection method. A highly metastatic potential mouse colon cancer cell line, Colon-26MGS, was subcloned from the parental cell line Colon-26 by in vivo screening using eight-times continuous subcutaneous implanting to immunocompetent mouse. Colon-26HM4 cell was also established at four-times repetition of metastases implanting, but it did not show any enhanced metastatic ability.
