Cobalt, refined (metal); hydro- and pyrometallurgical processes; production mix, at plant; >99% Co (Location: GLO)

The data set is part of a critically reviewed LCA of refined cobalt. The study is based on primary data supplied by members of the Cobalt Development Institute, and thus reflecting current mining and processing of metallic cobalt. The resulting data set is based on both main cobalt production routes: hydrometallurgical and pyrometallurgical processes. The data set is a weighted average of the various production routes, based on production volumes.

Technical Purpose: As a component in the production of batteries, catalysts, corrosion resistant super alloys, hard metals, diamond tools and hard facing, magnets and electronics, and high-strength alloys and steel, as well as cobalt chemicals.
